Acute care team and service entry points

1300 MHCALL is the key access point for Metro North Mental Health.

If the matter is urgent or life threatening, always call Triple Zero (000) or go to your nearest hospital Emergency Department immediately.

1300 MH CALL (1300 64 2255)

1300 MH CALL is a confidential mental health telephone triage service that provides the first point of contact to public mental health services 24 hours, 7 days a week. Your call will be answered by a trained administration officer who will briefly gather some personal information to help them provide you the best service.

If your matter is urgent, you'll be transferred to a clinician to talk about the reason for your call. Otherwise, they'll make a time for a clinician to call you back at a time that suits you.

Acute Care Team (ACT)

The Acute Care Teams are the first point of access for all referrals to Metro North Mental Health for people over 18 years.

The Acute Care Team offers comprehensive mental health triage, assessment, treatment and support in managing mental health concerns in the short term.

You can access this service by:

  • calling 1300 MH CALL (1300 64 2255)
  • gaining a referral via your GP or from another government or non-government service.

NOTE: The ACT service may refer consumers of a particular age group (children, adolescents, older adults) directly to an age specific service as some age specific services in Metro North Mental Health do not require triage by ACT (see other pages for further information).
