My Mental Health Chat

It can be daunting to pick up the phone if you are struggling with your mental health. It can be equally difficult to identify which service would best fit your needs. Online chat is a good place to start!

My Mental Health Chat is a free service navigation webchat service available from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm weekdays (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays).

This service is staffed by trained health professionals who can provide guidance navigating the mental health services and resources available in the North Brisbane and Moreton Bay region, and assisting in connecting you to those that align with your specific needs, goals, and values. If you require further support, our service navigators may encourage you to call our Head to Health Phone Line on 1800 595 212. Similarly, if you are experiencing wait times online, you can give us a call on 1800 595 212.

Please note that we are not a counselling or crisis service.

Who can use this service?

This service is available to anyone seeking assistance in accessing appropriate mental health supports for themselves or a loved one — however, we can provide more tailored support to individuals residing in the North Brisbane and Moreton Bay region. This service is also open to carers and health professionals. If you reside interstate, we can provide general information to assist you in finding appropriate support.

What type of services can you help me find?

We can help you find services to help with:

  • anxiety and depression
  • Trauma
  • relationship issues
  • grief and loss
  • substance abuse
  • gambling support
  • specific support for members of LGBTQIA+, CALD, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

This support might include: self-help resources, mental health and wellbeing apps, wellbeing courses, wellbeing coaching, counselling helplines, crisis helplines, support groups, psycho-social services, peer support services, blogs, safe spaces, low cost/free services, and/or one-to-one counselling.

Please note that we cannot provide any assistance with referrals or administrative support via webchat.

How can Head to Health support me?

My Mental Health Chat offers a pathway to connect you with a trained health professional via the Head to Health phone line. Our service navigators are committed to helping everyone find the most suitable mental health, suicide prevention, or alcohol and other drug service through a consistent approach to assessment via the IAR-DST, which can facilitate warm referrals into Brisbane North PHN's commissioned service providers where eligibility criteria is met. Making a thorough assessment of your individual needs is not always possible online; sometimes you might be encouraged to give us a call. Alternatively, you can request a call back during our business hours.
