Brisbane North Safe Spaces Network

The Brisbane North Safe Space Network is a community-based movement that provides alternative options for people experiencing distress and vulnerability across the region. The network will offer support in community spaces and places, away from hospital emergency departments.

Our goal is to create a heart-based community that:

• Supports people experiencing distress through additional options for support

• Facilitates Safe Places in community outside of traditional support settings

• Shares knowledge, resources and information

• Builds community capacity in joining and responding with compassion

• Joins and strengthens community connections, bridging gaps to care

• Promotes and enhances the value of lived experience perspectives.

Please note: Brisbane North Safe Spaces Network is NOT a mental health service provider. We are a community-based movement facilitating alternative options across Brisbane North for people experiencing distress and vulnerability across the region and do not provide clinical assistance or direct services. If you are in distress or crisis click here for a list of Safe Spaces available to you.

We need you!

We’re looking for people and organisations who want to join a regional community network of Safe Places, and become a trusted confidante for those seeking help. No previous experience or medical knowledge is necessary, just an open mind and heart.

Wesley Mission Queensland have been leading the development of the Safe Space Network concept alongside community since 2016. For further information contact Nat Scott, Safe Space Network Coordinator E SafeSpaceNetwork@wmq.org.au or visit the website: www.wmq.org.au/safespace
