The perinatal period covers pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. The care focuses on ensuring the health of the mother, baby, and other family.

ForWhen connects parents that may be struggling to navigate the complex waters of pregnancy and new parenthood to the critical mental health services you might need most.

Zero to Four Child and Youth Mental Health Service

For 0-4 year old's experiencing emotional and/or behavioral difficulties or where the relationship between them and their parents is difficult. It is also for women and their families who are struggling to develop a positive relationship with their unborn baby.

Metro North Perinatal Mental Health service

Offers care for parents and their baby during pregnancy (antenatally) and early parenthood up to 1 year postnatally. This includes specialist perinatal mental health assessment and treatment recommendations, brief intervention, providing information and referrals to an appropriate psychological service.

Peach Tree

Peach Tree Perinatal Wellness is a community-based perinatal and infant mental health service. Offering peer-led education and support to expecting parents and parents of children aged 0-5 years.

Pregnancy Counselling Link

Free phone, email and face-to-face counselling. Support through pregnancy and parenting, relationships, life changes, fertility and reproduction, depression and anxiety, loss & grief.

Pregnancy Support Couselling (Medicare Benefit)

On referral from a GP, a person who is currently pregnant or has been pregnant in the preceding 12 months may access up to 3 pregnancy support counselling services with Medicare rebate (Gap fee may apply).

Parentline offers free counselling and support for parents & carers in QLD & NT. The service is available 7 days a week, 8.00 am to 10.00 pm.

Pregnancy, Birth and Baby Helpline

Pregnancy, Birth and Baby supports parents on the journey from pregnancy, to baby and pre-school. The service is available 7 days a week, 7.00 am to 12.00 midnight via phone or video call.

Australian Breastfeeding Association Breastfeeding Helpline

As breastfeeding mothers, our counsellors know that breastfeeding may not always seem easy. They can provide reassurance and give you knowledge about how breastfeeding works and help in overcoming common hurdles. The Breastfeeding Helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is staffed by trained, volunteer counsellors.

Bears of Hope (pregnancy and infant loss support)

Bears of Hope support families who experience the loss of their baby. They offer empathetic individual counselling or group support to help you in your journey.

Tresillian Parent Help Line

The Nurses on the Tresillian Parent's Help Line can help with advice around your baby's sleep, feeding and development, providing information tailored to your needs and circumstances. The service is available 7 days a week, 7 am to 11 pm.

Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE)

Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) is a not-for-profit organisation devoted to reducing the impacts of emotional and mental health problems in the pre and postnatal periods. COPE provides a national, dedicated focus to perinatal mental health to address the identified issues that we know are currently preventing people from accessing timely and effective information and care. The COPE website includes a national e-directory for perinatal services.

Mum Mood Booster and Mum to be Mood Booster Programs

Mum Mood Booster is designed to help women recover from postnatal depression by providing six online sessions, access to an online library and optional partner support website.


MumSpace is for pregnant women, new mums and their families, designed to connect you quickly with the level of support you need, from advice and support in the transition to parenthood, to effective online treatment programs for perinatal depression and anxiety.

Raising Healthy Minds App

Aimed at parents and carers of children aged 0-12 years. Free to download and filled with tips and practical ideas to help families raise confident, resilient kids.
